Abstract

The article presents Aeschylus’ Oresteia staged by the Anagoor company in 2018. Aeschylus represents a starting point in the history of Anagoor and the article shows how the difficulties encountered in staging the ancient tragedy have constituted, over the years, a theatrical and philosophical interrogation to which the company constantly refer. The trilogy presented in 2018, a work upon the Oresteia, is a hybrid performance: on the one hand, the mimetic component is intertwined with narration and commentary; on the other, myth and tragedy dialogue explicitly with philosophical thought. Investigating the permeability between evocative word and image, the aesthetics of the fragment and the constitutive principle of montage are the paths explored to solve the difficulties of re-proposing ancient tragedy today.
